Mending Our Souls - Exploring Textiles in Death, Burial, and Mourning
Join WPS and guest instructor, Emma Mock, for an interactive, hands-on workshop exploring the powerful role of textiles in death, burial, and mourning practices. Participants will discover how fabrics and other meaningful objects have been used across cultures and throughout history to memorialize, ritualize, and express experiences of loss.
This workshop will involve reflective writing, storytelling, creative engagement with textiles, as well as, the collaborative creation of a collective shroud. And attendees will gain practical tools for supporting grief expression. exploring personal narratives of loss, and deepening their understanding of the connective and healing potential of textile-based rituals.
This experiential workshop models an embodied approach to grieving, and honors the importance of story, remembrance, and community while navigating loss.
